Summer learning journey-Day 1 (practise)

Hi everyone I just made a new Zealand flag. The flag that I created represents a little bit of Tonga  Samoa  and new Zealand. The colours also represent each of the countries colours but I put some of Tonga in it and Samoa because it is there for world peace.

  1. Hey Isabella,

What a creative way of re-designing the New Zealand flag. I love how you have used the same colours as our current New Zealand flag but added your design to it. I also really like how you have represented other cultures that are living in New Zealand. To me this is important so that we can live as a unified nation. Have you thought about how we could represent Maori, as the native people of New Zealand, on the flag?

I am excited to read more of your posts over the summer holidays.

    Have a beautiful day,

  2. Malo e lelei Isabella,
my name is Cia. I am a Summer Learning Journey blogger who will be working with you over the summer break.

I like the way you have kept the colours of the original flag and included Island nations Samoa and Tonga to include the many Samoan and Tongan people that call New Zealand home.

Maybe next time you could include a symbol that represents our Māori people in your flag design as well other cultures. When I designed my own flag during the New Zealand referendum I used koru patterns to represent Tanagta Whenua because I know they like to tell stories using koru in their traditional arts. What symbol would you use to represent Māori people within your flag design?

Nice start to the Summer Learning Journey Isabella, I look forward to reading your future blog posts over the summer holidays.

Toe feiloa’i fo’i ('See you again' in Samoan),

    Cia.
